Soy, Is It Killing You?

28
After an aggressive marketing campaign from the soy industry, soy is now perceived by the general population as a so called health food.
Over the past 15 years, soy sales increased from £190 million to nearly £2.
5 billion as people believe soy is a miracle health food.
Due to these beliefs and the large profits the soy industry are making, more and more products are being introduced onto our supermarket shelves.
To give you an idea, US food manufacturers introduced more than 2700 new soy based foods between the years 2000 - 2007 and more continue to be created and sold.
Common soy products are soy milk, soy icecream, soy burgers, soy cheese and soy infant formula, more on the latter later.
How are soy products made? The way they make unfermented soy products destroys any goodness soy beans have to offer.
Using an alkaline solution to speed up the soaking phase along with fluoridated and chlorinated tap water, the high pressure cooker destroys all key nutrients including vitamins and sulphur containing amino acids and leaves toxic residues.
Genetically modified soy products (GMO), which make up 90% of the soy grown, has been highly sprayed with Roundup and unfortunately you are also consuming this poison when you eat soy.
This also causes a lot of allergies.
Many studies have concluded that regular consumers of unfermented soy have been linked with digestive disorders, thyroid dysfunction, ADD and ADHD, dementia, reproductive disorders, infertility and cancer.
How can this actually be a health food if it is slowly killing us? Many parents feed their babies soy formulas, thinking they are doing the right thing for their child.
The estrogens in soy however can irreversibly harm your baby's future sexual development and reproductive health and can cause many other developmental abnormalities.
It has been shown that babies fed soy based formula take in an estimated five birth control pills worth of estrogen each day! Testosterone, a very important hormone for growth and other essential functions will be affected, thyroid function will be impaired through the isoflavones present, and it has potentially high concentrates of aluminium and manganese.
Unfortunately, because soy is so easy and cheap to produce in high quantities, farmers are now feeding it as a main source to their animals.
We then eat the animals and ingest the soy this way.
The solution to this is to buy grass fed, organic meat from a local farmer.
If we all start doing this, the farmers will have to meet the demand and change their methods back to the way it used to be.
But don't the Asians eat plenty of soy and live long healthy lives? Asians do consume soy but there are some very major differences.
They consume fermented soy (not unfermented) in very small quantities and the fermented process is a lot more natural (high heats are not used and they soak the beans for a considerable time longer in purified water).
This keeps all the goodness in the product.
Examples of fermented soy products are miso, natto and tempeh (please note tofu is not included in this list).
Fermented soy has a good source of Vit K2 which is essential for preventing osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease and diseases of the brain including dementia.
However I would suggest eating these products in small quantities.
Although soy has been and is still marketed as a miraculous health food, many studies have now been published to prove this theory incorrect.
Not only can consuming this dangerous product lead to serious health problems, research has shown that consuming soy has been linked to infertility in future generations.
Do yourself a favour and stop consuming unfermented soy products today.
