Common Terns, Maine by Bruce Colin
Putting the Natural World into Perspective Through Photography
Bruce Colin is an award winning nature photographer and a North American Nature Photographer Association (NANPA) member whose images and articles have appeared in calendars, textbooks, and publications such as Birders' World, Outdoor and Travel Photographer, and Nature Photographer Magazine.
Bruce's main objective is to photograph wildlife in their natural settings and whether documenting nature's graphic savagery or its tender moments, the images are there to show wildlife behavior in its truest sense.
"I feel that a visual story will help put the natural world and its wild inhabitants in perspective" ~ Bruce Colin
His greatest experiences have been collaborating with wildlife biologists and National Wildlife Refuge staff members. In 1990 he received an Earthwatch Educational Grant (sponsored by the New York Times Foundation) to work with and photograph wildlife biologists saving Bald Eagles in Michigan's Huron Manistee National Forest.
"Time spent in the field with wildlife personnel has helped me understand the ecology of the particular region I am photographing. This introduction provides me with a clearer picture of wildlife behavior as well as the rationale behind the policies created for the protection and management of certain species and their habitats." ~ Bruce Colin
