Information on How to Make Neon Lights
- 1). Turn on the glass welding torch and allow it to heat to at least 2200º Fahrenheit. At this heat the glass will be melted to the point that it can be welded.
- 2). Melt the ends of the glass tube and insert a transformer into either end. The glass will weld the transformers in place as it cools.
- 3). Heat the length of tube until you can easily manipulate it into whatever shape you want. Work slowly to avoid making incorrect bends because you can't undo any changes that you make.
- 4). Let the tube cool until the glass is hardened into shape then fit the tube into the bombarding manifold. Remove the air from inside the tube by creating a vacuum and raising the glass temperature to 400º Fahrenheit.
- 5). Fill the tube with the neon gas in a partial vacuum of less than atmospheric pressure. Carefully remove the tube from the manifold when the tube is full.
- 6). Connect the transformers on the ends of the tube to the connectors on the neon light framework. Leave the light to warm up for the first time. This could take anywhere from five minutes to several hours.
