How to Clean a Tallit
- 1). Clean your kitchen sink and then fill it with cold water. If your tallit is a large one, consider using the bathtub instead.
- 2). Add 1/2 cup of a gentle detergent to the cold water and give it a little stir.
- 3). Place the tallit in the sink. Submerge the tallit completely, and let it sit for 3 to 4 hours.
- 4). Wash the tallit with your hands. If you see any stains, gently rub over them with your fingers. Do not use a brush to scrub away the stains. This could damage the tallit's fabric.
- 5). Drain the soapy water from the sink, and rinse the soap off of the tallit with cold water from the faucet.
- 6). Wring the tallit out and hang it up to dry. Using a dryer could cause damage to the knots on the tallit, so it is best to use a clothesline and allow the tallit to dry naturally.
