How to Add a Second Color of Yarn to Knitting in the Middle
- 1). With the first color of yarn, knit to where you want to add the second color of yarn.
- 2). Insert the right hand needle into the next stitch. Lay the new color of yarn across the tip of the needle. On the back of the work, make sure that ball end of the new yarn is on the right. Leave about a six inch tail on the left. It does not matter if you are making a knit or purl stitch, the technique is the same.
- 3). Bring the yarn from the ball end of the yarn around and underneath the old color of yarn, then onto the right needle, and complete the stitch. This twists the stitches together so there will be no holes between the color changes.
- 4). Continue knitting with the color of yarn.
