Saloon Girl Costume Ideas
- Wear your hair in big curls. Pile all of the hair up onto the crown of the head; secure it there with bobby pins. Allow several strands of hair to come loose. Get 3 feathers--either black or red--and stick them into your hair at the crown of your head.
The key to saloon girl make-up is to make it dark. Wear dark red lipstick. Use black liquid eyeliner all around your eyes. You may want to outline your eyes several times to make sure that the eyeliner is thick enough. - Buy a red tank top and a short red skirt. Sew or hot glue black lace all around the top and bottom edges of the tank top, on top of the straps of the tank top, and all around the hem of the skirt.
Sew or hot glue several black feathers to the back top of the skirt so that the feathers hang down and form a kind of bustle in the back of the skirt.
An alternative to the black lace is black or red fringe. This gives the costume a more flowing feel, but fringe can be more cumbersome to work with than lace is. - Tie a piece of black ribbon around your neck like a choker necklace. Tie it in a bow at the front of your throat. Wear long black or red gloves. If you can, wear fingerless gloves, but gloves with fingers work as well.
Wear black fishnet stockings and a black or red garter on your legs. To dress up the garter a little bit, you may glue or sew some black lace onto it. Wear black lace-up ankle boots.
There are a few more accessories that you could consider. You may want to slip a few face cards into the garter or into the waistband of your skirt. You could also slip some small feathers into the garter to accentuate it.
