Law Enforcement Technology Grants
- Whether you're looking for a law enforcement technology grant or other, the first step is to research the grants that are available. There are two main providers of grants: the government and foundations. You can visit Grants.gov or FoundationCenter.org to look at what's available. Also, a trip to your library will reveal more detailed information that you may not find online or that you may have to pay a fee to access.
- After identifying the specific grants and determining the specifics, you can then begin to write your proposal. This is where most of the work is done and can be a very arduous process. Nevertheless, when looking at the money involved, which is usually in the thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars, it can be an undertaking well worth the effort. You can write the grant yourself or hire a professional grant writer.
- Once the proposal is written, proofread and properly prepared, you must apply for the grant. Each grant has different application requirements that you should follow to the letter. Everything from deadline to how the grant should be delivered. Spare no detail. The easier you make it for the awarding party to go through the proposal, the better your chances are.
