How to Replace the Battery in a 2001 Sebring Convertible
- 1). With the Sebring engine running, turn the wheels all the way to the right. Shut off the engine and pull on the steering wheel to lock it in place.
- 2). Remove the three plastic push connectors on the splash guard located under the wheel well of the driver's-side front tire. Pull the shield away and set it aside to expose the battery.
- 3). Remove the bolt on the battery mount using the wrench. Loosen the bolt on the negative (black) post and remove the cable. Do the same for the positive (red) cable. Slide the battery out and set it aside.
- 4). Slide in the new battery and replace the mount and bolts. Reattach the positive cable to the red, or "+" post on the new battery and repeat for the negative, or "-" post. Make sure to tighten the bolts enough so the cables don't slide off the battery posts.
- 5). Replace the splash guard and push the plastic pins back into place.
