How to Compare Gas Scooters
- Gas scooters contain a small engine, ranging in size from 20cc to 50cc. At the smaller end, the scooter will operate at a top speed of approximately 20 mph. Meanwhile, scooters containing a larger engine can hit speeds around 35 mph.
- Slowing or stopping on a scooter is accomplished using either a foot brake, located on the back near the rear tire, or a handlebar brake. Some scooters only have the option of a front handlebar brake. While others only contain a rear foot break. Some scooters have both types of brakes available.
- Many scooters have the ability to fold into a smaller size for travel. Some folding scooters contain a latch, making folding easy; others require the use of tools. However, if you plan to keep your scooter in one place, some models are available that do not fold at all.
