CBSE Class 10 examination is one of the most important board exams in India today, with more than thousand students appearing for this examination every year. The compulsory subjects include choice of two languages from amongst English, Hindi, Bengali, Assamese, Kashmiri, Gujrati, Marathi, Kannada, Manipuri, Malayalam, Punjabi, Oriya, Telegu, Tamil, Sindhi, Limbu, Urdu, Lepcha, Sanskrit, Bhutia, Spanish, Nepali, French, Tibetan, Arabic, German, Persian, Russian, Portuguese, and Mizo. Other compulsory subjects include Mathematics, Social Science, Science, Art Education, Work Education or Pre-Vocational Education, Health and Physical Education.

The additional subject choices for CBSE Class 10 board exams include any one language from the list mentioned above, excluding two compulsory subjects chosen earlier. Elsewhere, the students can also choose among Painting, Commerce, Foundation of Information Technology, Music, or Home Science. Generally, similar subject patters are noticed across different secondary education examination boards in India. As for instance, UP Board also provides somewhat similar subject choices and compulsory subjects for Class 10 board examination.
