Anxiety is good, but only to a certain degree.
When it starts to limit your social behaviors or if you have become all too consumed with your anxious feelings then anxiety will no longer qualify as one of life's basic self preservation mechanisms.
We are all subjected to all sorts of anxiety-provoking events- a first job interview, an ongoing major exam or simply any basic life struggles that we have to deal with at any moment of the day.
And typically, people can handle anxiety minimally with their control of emotions.
But once the anxious feeling becomes debilitating, enough that it already has the capacity to high jack your daily behavior, then maybe it is already the appropriate time for you to consider looking deeper into your anxiety behavior.
Anxiety, taken on its larger, more comprehensive scope of negative effect on an individual could lead to various disorders.
However, when it is viewed in its normalcy, anxiety can help someone cope most effectively in life.
It does not act as a disrupter, instead it becomes the source of motivation to excel, to keep oneself safe from possibilities of harm and to help cope with a variety of threats.
In short, it helps someone to live his life more effectively with enough considerations on various stimuli that might spoil his daily life.
Once emotionality begins to eat up a person though, he could be attacked by symptoms of unnecessary and extremely unfavorable anxiety that might lead to various disorders.
Among the initial symptoms of anxiety is its attack for no logical or apparent reasons at all.
Mostly, the sensation of anxiety is irrational and unexplainable, even by the person with anxiety disorder himself.
Also, attacks of extreme anxiety could be very uncomfortable that you would be limited from doing the normal things you do, or worse to completely avoid the very things you enjoy.
Thus, producing the tendency to isolate oneself.
Quite often, this response satisfies his impulse to get away from possible events that might cause his or her anxiety attacks.
On some occasions however, anxiety could cause a person to have bouts against his emotions that the experience becomes very terrifying and immobilizing.
Anxiety is not simply a character flaw, as many people may think it is.
It is also not a personality or mood disorder since both these two cover other kinds of psychological disorder.
It is a series of irrational and sporadic behaviors, rooted from severe, traumatic and internal apprehension in the person from a previous experience that could have possibly made him unable to cope.
Therefore, these severely damaging experiences led him to produce psychological disorders such as anxiety or panic attacks, and various types of anxiety disorders like specific phobias, Post-Traumatic Disorder and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
Based on statistics, anxiety could be found on the top three most pervasive mental disorders in the United States.
Thus, amounting to 148 billion of medical and mental health bills annually.
Nonetheless, this still does not include the undiagnosed, misdiagnosed and untreated patients of anxiety disorder.
The fact is, this disorder is common yet most people who have it usually believe that they are alone in their suffering or their case is special.
Top these with the fact that anxiety is often diagnosed as symptom of other diseases or as the result of a disease or syndrome.
However, it must be noted that this is a disease in itself that needs particular psychological treatments.
Anxiety attacks are not also a person's choice or is it his fault.
The stimulus that triggers the attacks come from nowhere though the historicity of behaviors that could have led to the creation of extreme anxiety could be traced back, even from childhood.
So someone who says that he can't simply face people and talk to them personally or someone who considers himself an total loser could not be considered as a liability of the society.
Instead, he must be taken as someone who needs psychological attention and requires treatment to help facilitate better in his environment.
Anxiety could be treated though so as to achieve a maintained degree of manageable anxiety.
However, people who are subjected to this type of psychological disorder, who are typically ostracized by the society must be tapped, and thus be given appropriate treatments.
