There must be hundreds of definitions on what "having good taste" implies.
In any of the Arabian countries having good taste as reflected in table manners will be leagues apart from what we consider good table manners in the West.
Taste will be based on family experience and traditions.
It will be based on simple likes and dislikes and most probably on memories of early childhood.
Good taste or even bad taste for that matter, will be expressed in a number of different areas and situations.

• Some comments are found to be in bad taste, depending on the company
• Taste will definitely be involved in food.
  
• Clothes and dress styles also fall into the good or bad taste scene.
  
• Home decor will have a lot to do with taste -for some good taste and for others bad taste.
  
• Music, poetry, literature will also be chosen on the basis of taste -good for some, bad for others and just awful for another set of people.

If you are going to be snobbish about it, then read a lot and follow what the experts tell you you should like.
If you want to really define your "good taste", you should learn a little about the subject in hand.
This will also help so that you are not taken in by any fast talkers.
Then more importantly follow your gut feeling.
This is the first impression before your logic kicks into gear and takes over based on what you should like and not what you actually do.
There is one final clue that will allow you to state, without a shadow of a doubt, that you do indeed have good taste in furniture.
After that initial gut feeling that says you know what you like even if you do not know what it is, ask for a price.
And the clue is, if it is expensive, then you do have great taste.
Unfortunately, if you are anything like me this will also mean you have exquisite taste but you cannot afford it so you settle for good taste.
