How to Replace the Keyless Entry Battery in a Prius
- 1). Slide the tab at the bottom of the key fob with your thumb. Pull the metal key out from the key fob.
- 2). Press down as far as you can on the key latch on the back of the fob. At the same time, use another finger or thumb to push at the back of the key fob to separate the back of the key fob from the rest of the key fob.
- 3). Use a very small Phillips screwdriver to twist out the four screws on the battery compartment cover. Lift up the battery compartment cover and set it aside.
- 4). Lift the battery out of the key fob. Set the replacement battery in its place.
- 5). Return the battery compartment lid and tighten the four screws.
- 6). Place the two key fob halves back into position. Press down as far as you can on the key latch on the back of the fob. At the same time, push on the back of the key fob to snap the two halves back into place.
- 7). Push the metal key back into the bottom of the key fob, and slide the bottom tab back into place.
