How to Survive the Creature Phase in Spore
- 1). Decide on a niche. Is your creature going to make friends with other species, or attempt to destroy them? You can do either and both present a challenge. Some species are very difficult to befriend while others are very difficult to kill. Either way, making a decision early on will allow you to focus your efforts later.
- 2). Evolve whenever you can. Just as in the cell phase, evolving allows you to utilize new body parts and adapt your creature to their environment. It will also help them fit their niche much better. Upgrade your parts to improve either your combat skills or your social skills. Use the Mating Call to attract a mate and evolve.
- 3). Gather your pack. As your creature grows in intelligence, you will be able to gain more followers for your pack. To gain a follower, befriend a species then communicate with one of their members (preferably an Alpha; they are the toughest) again to convince them to join you. You can have up to three pack members. They will aid you in fighting and communicating with other species.
- 4). Use your special abilities. Each creature type (Carnivore, Herbivore, Omnivore) has certain special abilities, displayed above the Social/Attack buttons. These can make certain tasks much easier for you.
- 5). Run away. There's no shame in running from a volcano, a UFO or a giant animal. You'll probably need to. While you can stand and fight against the giant animal (and possibly kill it if you're tough enough), you have no chance against a volcano or a UFO. The best thing you can do is high tail it away from the danger.
