A small seaside town is what you will find at Sheringham - Norfolk in England.
The two villages that made up the location were known as upper and lower, the economy was one based on farming and fishing both.
With the coming of the rails this would show a bit of increase in the market.
It would be than that the fish that would be caught could be sent out more easily to other locations.
The main catch during that time was focused on lobsters, whelks and crabs.
Though there was still some people who would head out to catch herring and cod.
During that time it would be easy to estimate about 200 boats in operation.
Now it is a vast difference with only eight boats.
Now the town is more focused as a location where one would head to shop for the day.
There are many shops that you will find on high street that are privately owned.
Each Saturday there is still a market held in town that is quite popular with many people.
There are also many fabulous specialty shops that you will find in town, including places to buy some fishing tackle, or even the little odds and ends.
There are also many places where you can head to shop for those antiques.
Each year the Sheringham Little theater is a location that houses many different plays.
Of course a visit here would not be complete without a stop at the Sheringham Museum.
Here you will find much of the past history of the town, through fishing.
The Museum itself was actually converted into that from many cottages that were used for fishing in the past.
It really is a fabulous stop to teach you a lot of the past history of this location.
Housing many of the old tools that were used in the past to build boats too.
You can even find the remains of a Roman kiln that was unearthed during a dig for relics.
