Private Land Rules

• Hogs may be hunted any time of year without limit and hunted without license on private property with the landowner's permission. On private land, hogs are considered livestock and the landowner's property.
  
  

Wildlife Areas

• There are several Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) around Bradenton, each with its own hunting rules. Some have no seasons but do have limits; other WMAs have a specific season.
  
  

Special Hunts

• State wildlife officials hold special hunts during the year in areas where hunting is not normally allowed. Only a certain number of hunters are allowed; permits are issued on a drawing basis.
  
  

Guided Hunts

• A guide or outfitter might be your best bet for the private land around Bradenton. Guides have areas to hunt and can put you in the best position to make a kill. Meals and lodging are often included.
  
  

About Hogs

• Boars, with thick skin and tusks, often weigh 300 pounds but can be larger. Domestic pigs gone wild are also part of the wild hog population, but they may look more like regular pigs.
