Liane Metcalfe trained and qualified first as a Metaphysical Practitioner and then as a Teacher of Metaphysical Principles.

She has been counselling since 2000 working with people with a wide variety of life's difficulties.

Liane works with a holistic approach encompassing the entire person's mind, body, and spiritual perspective through years of successful practice of Metaphysics and linking this with the more modern science of Psychology.

Liane has experience with working as a Mentor in the Government initiative, 'AimHigher' Project.

She has also worked with young offenders & mental health patients within both NHS and private sectors.

More recent experiences include working with adult survivors with brain injury.

Initial Session: 1 hour - 1 hour and 30 minutes, a case history will be taken at this time.

Following Sessions: 50 minutes.

The frequency of appointments to be determined based on individual circumstances.

Metaphysics is the study and application of the way that life is ordered through universal laws. From a world view, Metaphysics is the interaction of life upon itself for example, from the order of the universe to the spinning of the Earth on its axis.

In closer perspective, Metaphysics is applied to how our individual thoughts have a direct effect on our lives, for example, the use of meditation which has been used for thousands of years by different cultures from all around the globe.

The emptying of one's thoughts help to quieten the busy mind and has prompted studies into the effectiveness of this technique.

This method of mental focusing has repeatedly shown to enable people to experience significant benefits to their mind (such as the reduction of stress), benefit the body

(for example helping people with asthma to breath easier), benefits emotions (for example by reducing anxiety), and overall well-being (as it can help relieve insomnia for example).

Meditation is a scientific, evidence based, simple yet safe and effective method that can assist in rebalancing the mind, body, and emotional states.

Healing starts with the self: Although we can discuss and consider the past, our time to make real changes occur in the present.

Liane works using a variety of methods including, for example; discussion, relaxation techniques, breathing techniques, meditation, and visualisations. It is intended for you, the client, to use and adapt various techniques which we shall explore together to build your own individualised set of tools. These methods can be applied to your life straight away and which can continue to be supportive and adapted to different life situations when work with Liane is done.

Psychology first became a science in 1879 when Wilhelm Wundt formed the first research lab at the University of Leipzig.

Since then, many new psychological therapeutic advances have occurred, many in the past 20 or 30 years. A few such illustrations include Positive Psychology, which focuses on the individual being happier and this attitude lends to feeling greater fulfilment in their life.

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy applies the key component of mindfulness. It is the theory of being present in the moment and not allowing the thinking mind to run riot in a given situation; to remain alert and EUR~mindfulEUR(TM) of the repetitive mind chatter in our everyday thinking. The state of being mindful separates the self from the emotive content.
