Come on, let's face it.
Geeks have been suffering from unfair prejudice all the while.
They are stereotyped onto people who are 'boring and unfashionable", with an eccentric interest in a particular topic, such as science and technology.
Geeks are seldom seen hanging out with girls, they are usually at home with fancy gadgets or with some mysterious story books.
If that is the impression you have of geeks, there is nothing wrong with it.
This image has been popularised by Hollywood movies and even homegrown dramas.
But as a cool study geek myself, let me debunk some myths and help the geeks out there get some justice done.
The truth is geeks are at heart, no different from any other guy.
They just happen to have very different passion that is different from others and which others don't consider cool.
Times are changing.
Gone are the days where geeks wear sloppy t-shirts, tight Bermuda, and high socks, white colour some more.
Now, we have geeks who have fashionable hairstyle, wearing sunglasses and listening to his iPod, while solving very intriguing Maths puzzle on his laptop.
Then when his crush walks by, he will swing out his guitar and strum the most romantic rap that he can have the whole crowd cheering him on.
If you are wondering such a geek exist, that is me! Unfortunately, there are some geeks out there who are really 'uncool'.
Imagine a geek who brings you to the Science Centre on the first date.
And when you reach there, he starts to explain the mysterious theories behind the galaxy and evolution of creatures.
At dinner, he uses calculus to calculate the maximum number of plates the table can hold.
On the way back, he solves sudoku on the train and scream out excitedly after he has completed it.
And during bedtime, he tells you story titled "The logic behind Programming" to get you to sleep.
Sounds like the worst date of your life? You bet! This is not cool at all! This is definitely not the Study Grandmaster way! Taking her to Science Centre for first date is perfectly fine with me, but you need to talk about some topics that both of you share some common interests.
Talking about mysterious and complex theories will just make her feel stupid and her feel like a bimbo! Instead, you can talk about how the stars are formed, and the beautiful constellations in the sky.
Explain how they affect her horoscope and make some guesses about her character.
If you don't know, go and STUDY! Some of you might argue that this is not sincere, but I personally feels that it is not true.
You are sincere in winning her over, that is why you make the effort to read up and impress her.
It is just like going for exams and preparing yourself for it.
Therefore you see, geeks can get girls too.
With a certain set of mindset and actions, you can be perceived as cool too.
