Time to Call a Plumber - When the Plunger Doesn"t Do the Trick

40
You are in the shower getting ready for an important event and soon you notice that you are standing in more water than usual.
The water does not seem to be going down the drain.
So you finish your shower as quick as you can.
You stick each foot into the shower and rinse off your feet after you get out because you still have some of that nasty stuff on your feet.
Fortunately, you finished your shower before the water got too high and you are still able to finish getting dressed and to your important event on time.
Awesome.
The entire time you are at your event, you are thinking about that stoppage.
You know that it is not going to magically fix itself while you are gone.
Now the event is over and you are back home.
Now what are you going to do? You have seen plumbers snakes at the local home improvement store before, so you make a trip there, to get one.
You spot a handheld hand cranking snake there that is a very reasonable price.
You buy your very own plumbers snake and take it home.
There you are looking at that vile mess in your shower determined to unclog that drain.
You have your gloves on and your protective eye wear.
You take your brand new hand cranker and pull the snake out a little.
You shove it into the drain and start cranking away.
You feel like you may be seeing some progress.
You push more and more cable into the drain.
You are feeling pretty good because you are positive that soon you will have a drain that flows perfectly.
You are noticing that the hand cranker is getting harder to turn.
The snake is getting increasingly harder to turn but, that is to be expected right? That just means that you have hit the stoppage right? So you crank even harder and with more determination.
You are ready to reap the fruits of your labor.
The sweat is rolling into your eyes and the smell of the raw sewage in your shower and on your face, hands and clothes is the evidence of your hard work.
With hardened determination you continue to crank that snake into the drain.
Finally you have had enough of the cranking.
The sewage you have been playing in has not gone down.
In fact it seems that there is more sewage in there than when you started.
So you decide to pull the snake out of the drain and maybe try a plunger.
So you give the snake a tug.
The snake seems to be quite firm in its position in your drain.
You tug the cable and it does not come out.
You are already tired and sweaty and you are not going to let this cable beat you, so you tug and tug and tug harder.
You go get your locking pliers and snap them down onto the cable so you can get a better grip on it.
Now you will have the grip to pull it out.
You funnel all of your frustration and rage into pulling the cable out with all of your strength.
That cable has beaten you.
It is hopelessly stuck in the pipe and you are not getting it out, ever.
At this point it is fairly safe to say that you need a licensed plumber to come out and do two things for you.
The biggest problem you have is that you have a snake stuck in your drain and the second problem is that the sewage is still not draining.
One good place to find a quality plumber is the Better Business Bureau.
They allow you to research the contractor before you hire.
