  An image of a triangle made of three arrows shows that a product consists of recyclable material. A number inside the triangle specifies the type of recyclable material. A code of 1 refers to the polyester known as polyethylene terepthalate, a code of 2 refers to high density polyethylene, and a code of 4 refers to low density polyethylene. Transparency Film

• Transparency film often consists of polyester. It is possible to recycle polyester transparency film, although the film contains additional additives such as ink and toner, so not all recycling centers can handle this product. 3M has established a program that allows you to send in transparency film so that it may be recycled. • Polyethylene terepthalate, often known as PET, is commonly used to manufacture soda bottles. In many states, when you buy soda in a bottle you pay an additional fee. This fee is used to reimburse those people who drop off polyethylene bottles at some recycling centers. The deposit charge and the amount reimbursed at recycling centers varies by state. Plastic bottles are frequently recycled to produce low quality polyester fiber for the clothing industry. Plastic tennis ball containers are commonly made from this polyester.
  
  

Polyester Clothing

• Polyester garments are recyclable. The materials used to manufacture polyester garments, such as thread, yarn, fabric, and patches, can also be recycled. According to the University of Delaware, clothing made from recycled polyester is often the same quality as or better than the original garment, but it is an expensive process.
  
  

Hard Plastic Containers

• High density polyethylene, also known as HDPE, is used to manufacture containers that must be more durable than soft drink bottles. This strong plastic produces milk jugs, fruit juice containers and large water bottles, according to the University of Missouri. Polyester containers are also used to hold many shampoos, conditioners, and other bath products, and also include plastic liquor containers, according to the University of Wisconsin.
  
  

Food Wraps

• Low density polyethylene is more flexible than either PET or HDPE. This flexibility makes it preferable for prodects like sandwich bags and plastic food wraps. According to the University of Missouri, plastic bags used to store food purchased at grocery stores are made from low density polyethylene.
