How to Remove Tear Stains With Bluing
- 1). Give your pet a bath using regular dog, or cat, shampoo and conditioner. It is important to make sure your pet is completely soaked after the initial shampooing and conditioning. If they are not soaked after being rinsed, there is more of a risk that the bluing shampoo will turn their coat blue.
- 2). Apply a small amount of bluing shampoo gently into the corners of their eyes. Do not leave this on for longer than 1 to 2 minutes. There is a small chance that it can turn their fur blue.
If you are unable to use bluing shampoo, cornstarch can be substituted. It will not cause irritation to your pets eyes or coat, and it has the same affect on tear stains as bluing shampoo because it is a whitening agent as well. - 3). Rub the bluing shampoo or cornstarch into the corners of the eyes, pulling off any clumps of dirt and mucus that may have built up in the corners of their eyes.
Do not force the shampoo into the eyes since it may burn and cause irritation. - 4). Rinse your pet completely to get all of the shampoo or cornstarch off.
