How to Make a Large Ball Fountain

Select a level area in your garden for the water fountain, near an electrical outlet. Place a tall pot with a 10 to 12 inch wide lip on the level area. Fill the pot halfway full of gravel. Make a mound of gravel around the bottom of the pot. Spread the gravel out around the pot 10 to 12 inches. This pot will be the stand for the fountain. - 2

Spread epoxy glue around the lip of the pot. Place a 16-inch wide bowl on top of the pot and let the glue dry completely. The bowl will hold the water pump and sphere. - 3). Put on your goggles and using a drill with a bit larger than the plastic pump tubing, drill a hole in the center of a 9-inch saucer. Drill a notch on the edge of the saucer large enough for the pump cord. Drill 2 more holes in the saucer for drainage. Place the pump into the bowl. Set the saucer upside down in the bowl, resting on the sides of the bowl above the pump, the fit should be snug.
- 4). Draw an x in the top center of the sphere with a marker. Put on your goggles and using a drill with a bit larger than the plastic tubing, drill a hole through the x in the top the sphere. Repeat this process for the bottom of the sphere if necessary (some spheres already have a hole in the bottom). Push the tubing through the top and bottom holes of the sphere.
- 5). Turn the saucer upside down and push the tubing through the center hole in the of the saucer then connect it to the pump. Place the electrical cord into the notch on the side of the saucer with the plug above the saucer and press the saucer down into the bowl above the pump.
- 6). Fill the bowl with water, plug the pump into an outlet and turn it on to test it and make sure it works, then turn it off. Fill the bowl above the saucer with glass marbles, then turn the pump on once more and leave it on.
