How to Rig a Trixie Shad
- 1). Slide a 1/4 oz. or lighter bullet-weight onto the end of your fishing line. Position the small end of the weight so it is pointing up the line, toward the rod's tip.
- 2). Attach a No. 2/0 or larger extra-wide-gap hook to the end of your line. Tie the hook with a Palomar knot. Moisten the knot with water or saliva, and pull down tightly against the eye of the hook. Trim the excess line extending from the knot using sharp scissors.
- 3). Insert the point of the hook into the nose of the Trixie Shad. Push the hook-point 1/4 inch into the bait.
- 4). Turn the point down and out at the bottom of the bait. Push the Trixie Shad up the hook to the offset located just below the hook-eye.
- 5). Turn the hook toward the bait. Insert the point into the belly, and push it through and out the bait. Straighten the Trixie Shad between the offset bend and the point.
