Big Agendas in Innovation and Invention Are Ahead For the Us, He Said

10
The other day, I was speaking with a long-time engineer and inventor about all the newest technologies which will make our civilization and society better; that is to say more efficient, cleaner, greener, faster, and safer.
Makes sense right - sure it does and he and his partners in various projects were looking forward to finding the capital then needed to bring several rather remarkable new innovations to market in the coming years, and then he said something very interesting to me: "We have a big agenda the next 5-10 years.
" Indeed, this put a big smile on my face, and perhaps not for the reason you think.
You see, one of my favorite lines in a business plan has always been; "We are poised to do 10-million dollars in the first 3-years.
" Why you ask? Well, because it sounds big and grandiose but it doesn't actually mean anything, it's just a big statement of fluff you see, and with that I generally think to myself "poised" what does that mean? Now then, most marketers, PR people, and entrepreneurs chasing funding almost evangelical about the green-economy, winning the future (WTF), and such.
And, that's fine and all that but rarely am I swayed by evangelicalism on any level, perhaps I am from Missouri - remember the "show me state" - so, not too into talk these days.
Therefore, this notion of a "Big Agenda" sounds great and in the next 5-10 years sounds wonderful, but I am into results really these days, too much talk from teleprompters and far too much green-lantern for me, so without real technology, I remain the harshest critic or with a reality based innovation the best ally.
It just depends on the reality of the given technology being discussed, BS walks you know.
Further, sometimes I feel our technology industry has been hijacked by politics, and global warming religion, it's going to take a while to get it back to reality and weed out the "pile on" of environmental entrepreneurs chasing freebee flows of grants, cheap loans, government subsidies, and tax credits.
We can do better than this.
Do you agree or no? The reason I ask is any legitimate inventor or innovator would have to agree and is ready to pony up and prove they have what it takes and the best solution to conquer the challenge, something practical, efficient, viable, and worthy.
Indeed, let this be a lesson to all entrepreneurs seeking capital, talk is cheap, in fact it's free, and that means zero dollars without a reality check or proof of concept.
Please consider all this and think on it.
