Starting Boost for Burnout Revenge

    Starting Boost

    • Boost in "Burnout Revenge" is measured by the boost bar. Located in the bottom left corner, this red meter fills with flames to show how far away you are from activating the boost meter. Once the bar is full, you can use boost. On the Xbox and Xbox 360 versions of "Burnout Revenge", press and hold "A" to use boost. On the PlayStation 2 version, press "R1." When you let go of the boost button, boost will stop, and you can continue to fill the bar from there.

A common trick in "Burnout Revenge" gives you an instant boost at the start of the race. This trick takes practice, and most people cannot pull it off on their first try. When the timer begins to count down for the race to begin, hold the gas down. When it gets to "2", tap the brakes once. The wheels on your car should start spinning. When the timer reaches "1", release the gas, and when the race says "Go!", hit the gas again. You must hit the gas at the exact moment the race says "Go!" To time this properly, you may need to start pressing the button just before the message actually appears onscreen.

    Earning Boost

    • You earn boost in the game by driving dangerously without actually wrecking your car and by taking down other vehicles. The takedown is an important aspect of "Burnout Revenge." Slam into a car and wreck it without wrecking your own car. You will earn points and gain boost power. As for the dangerous driving techniques, driving on the wrong side of the road, almost crashing into a car but just barely missing it, drifting around corners and performing other stunts all gain boost. Make sure not to wreck your car, or you'll fall behind in a race.

    Using Boost

    • There are several ways to use boost once you've filled the meter. If you're performing stunts, you can jump off ramps and hit the boost at the beginning of the ramp to go higher and gain more air. You'll earn points, and if you land on an opponent, you can get a takedown this way. Use boost at the beginning of a race to pull ahead, and use boost in the middle of a race to take down opponents in front of you. Using boost also earns you extra points, even if you don't perform any tricks while using it.
