How to Replace a Stereo Phone Plug
- 1). Remove the failing stereo jack from the chassis it is installed in by using the socket wrench set to loosen the nut and washer mounting it.
- 2). Clip the leads connected to the jack by using the wire clippers, making a note of which wire is connected to which lead of the jack.
- 3). Prepare the wires that were clipped from the jack by stripping the conduit of each wire approximately 1/8th inch.
- 4). Mount the new stereo jack with the socket wrench set using the included nut and washer where the old jack was prior. Mechanically connect the prepared wires to the respective leads of the new jack .
- 5). Solder the mechanical connections using the soldering iron and solder by first applying heat to the connections using the tip of the soldering iron and then applying the solder. Be sure to remove the tip of the soldering iron as soon as solder begins to flow.
