For some reason, or probably for many reasons, the worldwide popularity of Asians of the female persuasion has exploded in the last five years.
This has given rise to much talk of mail-order-brides, "yellow fever," Asian fetishes, dragon ladies, and other similarly derogatory references involving Asian women and the western men who adore them.
While it is true that there is a share of perverts looking to what they consider an "exotic" race for sexual outlets and adventure, there are also certain less vile reasons for this fascination.
It is not likely that men only want Asian women for what they believe will be a submissive and sexually lax partner.
After all, an Asian woman is a woman, and women are humans.
It wouldn't make sense that they would be so far removed from other, non-Asian women.
What does set them apart from Americans and Europeans is culture.
Traditionally, in the East as in the West, men are seen as the breadwinners and women the homemakers.
In the east, however, women were considered inferior to men, to the point that their existence was justified by that which they could do to serve the male portion of the population.
Centuries of this attitude led to a culture in which women's actions were all expected to be done with the benefit of men in mind.
Although there are elements of this as well as inequality between men and women in western cultures, they do not begin to equal the role women were assigned in the east.
Women's liberation in the west has preceded that of the east by a good 50 years or so, and though values and traditions have started to change in the east, the old ways will require more time before women are truly seen as the equals of men as they are in the West (though it's true that sexism still exists in any country).
For the time being, in countries like China and Japan, many still believe women are sub-standard when compared to men and treat them as such.
Culture is one overarching reason why Western men are attracted to women of the east.
Western men cite as reasons the docility and femininity of Asian women in contrast to the women at home, who they claim have forgotten how to be women.
While this is by no means an objective evaluation, it does stand to reason that in general, have more of a mentality that it is natural to obey their man.
