How to Use an Old DirecTV Dish for an Antenna
- 1). Make sure all the satellite receivers are switched off and unplugged.
- 2). Climb up onto your roof and hold the clip-on antenna against the back of the dish. The logo should face out. Maneuver the clamps around the edge of the dish and snap the antenna in place. Tighten the clamps.
- 3). Disconnect the satellite cables at the dish's multi-switch. Disconnect the cables marked "Output" or "To Receiver."
- 4). Connect those cables you disconnected to the "Out" connection on the antenna.
- 5). Connect the "In" terminals of the antenna to the "Output" or "To Receiver" terminals you disconnected from on the multi-switch.
- 6). Climb down from the roof and take the cable that runs into the "Sat In" jack on your old satellite receiver. Connect that cable to the "TV/Sat" connection on the internal duplexer that came with your antenna.
- 7). Connect one of the included short cables between "Sat" on the duplexer and "Sat In" on the satellite receiver. The other short cable goes from "TV" on the duplexer to the satellite receiver's "Ant In."
- 8). Check you still have a cable going from the satellite receiver's "TV Out" terminal to your television's "Ant In."
- 9). Turn the satellite receiver box off because you're not using DirecTV programming anymore. The way this installation is wired means that whenever you want to add DirecTV again you can with minimal effort. Everything's still wired for it. The DirectTV box needs to be off to use this antenna installation, however.

Run the auto program on your TV. Use Air Mode, not Cable Mode.
