Mobile CT: Prehospital Diagnosis and Treatment of Stroke
Mobile CT: Prehospital Diagnosis and Treatment of Stroke
Prehospital CT scanning is either accompanied by a radiologist in the ambulance or an on-call radiologist connected via telemedicine. Transmission time depends on the used mobile phone net and can be slowed when multiple persons use internet either in the geographic cell of the stroke ambulance or of the remote radiologist. During the PHANTOM-S pilot study, transfer of CT images to on-call neuroradiologists were delayed by 5–15 min in two cases. With higher bandwidth of the mobile information technology (IT) connection, image transfer can be accelerated. In order to improve transmission rates, the new 'long-term evolution (LTE)' technology allows prioritization of special users such as telemedicine providers.
