How to String a Shakespeare Long Cast Spool Fishing Pole
- 1). Open the bail of the reel, then starting at the rod tip, begin stringing the line down through each ring on the rod to the reel. Be careful not to let the line get loose and tangle.
- 2). Pull the line around the spool three or four times before tying it into a basic or advanced fisherman's clinch knot.
- 3). Wrap the line around the spool and tie a basic fisherman's clinch knot. The knot should be pulled tight, with little space between the knot and the back of the spool. The less space in between, the better.
- 4). Cut the excess fishing line off from the end of the knot.
- 5). Close the bail and begin reeling the line slowly onto the spool. You will want to keep the line taut and pull out any snags or tangles before they get to the spool.
- 6). After filling the spool with fishing line, use the knife to cut the end of the line on the fishing rod and separate it from the leftover fishing line.
