Hair loss can be a very disconcerting thing.
There can be so many different causes as well.
The first thing you need to be aware of is that it is completely normal for some hair to fall out daily.
The strands on your head do not all grow at the same rate..
A percentage is in the resting stage and thus will fall out as new hair grows in its place.
Hair has a cycle and grows for a certain period of time.
The medical field tells us that hair basically grows one half inch per month.
So, in a time period of one year, hair will grow 6 inches.
Of course, there will be exceptions to the rule.
Some people may be genetically disposed to a faster rate of growth but generally speaking, you should expect six inches within one year.
So when we talk about hair loss, we're not referring to the few strands you may see in your daily grooming routine.
The type of loss we are referring to here may result in clumps rapidly falling out at one time, or gradually shedding more than normal.
More than normal can mean that hair is easily pulled out or the loss amount you see in your daily grooming is gradually increasing and thus resulting in the hair on your head thinning.
This type of loss is often what drives people to search out hair loss products.
The thing is, it is important to discover exactly what is causing your own loss before shopping for products to remedy the situation.
There are a variety of medical conditions that can contribute to losing hair.
Some of the popular causes are alopecia, hormonal changes, and current medications, just to name a few.
Once you discover the cause, you can then begin to search for remedies.
Most of the items touted as 'hair loss products' may not work the way you expect or want them to.
For instance, medicines, such as Minoxidil, can absolutely help to regrow hair.
However, as soon as you stop using the medicine the loss often continues.
There are also vitamins and specially formulated shampoos and conditioners on the market.
Some vitamins can help provide the nutrients needed for healthy hair, but it's good to remember that vitamins are not a quick fix solution.
Then too, there is something simple we can do as 'remedy'.
If we have already identified the cause, and it is within our control, we can cease doing what is causing it in the first place.
For instance, if you have begun taking a new medication and notice one of the side effects is losing hair, consult with your doctor to investigate switching to a different medication.
Be patient and don't lose hope! Most people can recover in due time.
