Does CCleaner Run on a Schedule?
- By default, CCleaner doesn't run on a particular schedule; however, you can configure the program to run automatically when you start your computer. When you enable automatic system cleaning, the program is added to the Startup folder. When your start your operating system, CCleaner launches automatically, runs a system scan and deletes content depending on the settings. If you want to enable automatic scans, open the program's "Settings" from the Options. Selecting the "Run CCleaner when the computer starts" allows the program to run automatically. In addition to enabling automatic scans, select the cleaning steps the program will perform.
- When you open CCleaner, the program displays cleaning and registry repair tools, options in the left panel. Clicking the Cleaner or Registry provides a series of cleaning options to choose from. Cleaning options vary depending on the tasks you want to complete. CCleaner provides options to remove temporary Internet files and empty the recycle bin to free up hard disk space. When you click the "Analyze" button, the program searches the computer and determines which files are safe to remove. The registry cleaner allows you to remove missing DLLs and ActiveX components, delete obsolete software and unnecessary entries.
- Every now and then, Piriform releases a new version of CCleaner. New versions include everything from additional features to fixes for bugs that causes errors. You have the option of manually updating CCleaner directly from Piriform's website or scheduling updates to install automatically. When you enable automatic updates, CCleaner connects to the Piriform server and checks for new updates every 10 days. From the program's Settings, selecting the "Automatically check for updates to CCleaner" enables the automatic update feature.
- To maximize the program's features, run CCleaner on an administrator account. The program can run on a normal or guest account, but some of the files may not be deleted when the program runs on a guest account.
