7
Can we expect someone to run before he learns how to walk? But this thing happens in bowling alleys every day.
People with no background of the game of bowling out of blue one day start playing and expects to get good score.
But like everything else in bowling things don't work like that.
There is a learning curve involved.
Trying to bypass it can only add to your woe.
With proper guidance and training you can make learning process faster, but like other experienced player of this game you have to get your basics right before you can expect high numbers on scoreboard.
Here are some of the areas you would like to concentrate as a beginner: Ball handling: it is a tricky part, you have to frequently handle the ball and at the same time do it without tiring your fingers.
Your goal should be handling the ball as much as possible without involving your fingers.
So make a practice to use your fingers just to deliver the shot.
For other tasks like picking up the ball and holding the ball while waiting for your turn use palms of both of your hands.
Footwork: footwork is very important if you cannot get it right there is little chance that you will make it in bowling.
You should be taking 3 to 5 steps before you deliver the ball.
Exact number of steps will depend on how well built you are.
If you have a powerful shoulder three steps should be okay for you.
Else you can think of using more steps before the delivery.
But you should limit yourself within five.
Delivery and follow through: ask someone to watch over your actions during delivery and follow through.
It is difficult to achieve correct actions without help from someone experienced.
Being a keen observer of successful players and trying to copy their actions can be easy way to correct your own actions.
When you're just starting out concentrate on the above points and accuracy will come automatically.
