"The Riches" Return for Season Two

14

Over the years, FX has given us an array of absolutely fantastic and compelling dramas. FX is known to take chances with their dramas since they have much more creative freedom than the major networks. Major stars such as Glenn Close, Forest Whitaker, Ted Danson, Michael Chiklis, Minnie Driver and Eddie Izzard have flocked to FX because the solid reputation the network has achieved in the television industry.

After falling in love with that "different kind of cop" on The Shield and those intense surgeons on Nip/Tuck, viewers were given a new family last year and we couldn't have been happier to meet The Riches.

The Malloy's are a family of "travelers." They have no social security numbers, no permanent residence and no employment records. However, they are highly skilled thieves and have spent a lifetime working to hone that skill.

On the run from fellow "travelers," the Malloy's accidentally kill the Riches, a couple in the process of moving to a new home and a new life. It doesn't take the Malloy's long to make the decision to take on the identity of the Riches and so the story begins....

Previously on The Riches: Dale hunted Wayne and Dahlia down and began making threats. Pete, the best friend of the real Doug Rich, came to town and quickly became a problem. As Pete put the pieces together, he threatened to expose the Malloy's as frauds. Realizing the jig was up; the Malloy's knew they had to leave town and their new life behind forever.

Season two picks up right where season one ended. After watching the first four episodes, I am happy to say that the show hasn't skipped a beat and is just as entertaining as season one. What can viewers expect from season two? I'll give you some clues, but be warned that there are spoilers ahead:
  • The Malloy's return to the RV and decide to go to Mexico, but are unable to get away since Dale stole the distributor cap.
  • Remember that buried money Wayne stole in the pilot episode? The very money Wayne and Dahlia couldn't find? Turns out Sam had the money all along!
  • Wayne sends Dahlia, the kids and Cherien's elderly mother off on their own and promises to meet them on the way to Mexico.
  • As Dahlia is leaving, Nina flags her down and announced that she wants to run away with them.
  • Dale shows up at the "Riches" house and finds Pete in the bedroom.
  • Dale "takes care" of the Pete situation.
  • Dahlia finally tells Nina the truth.
  • Hugh tells Wayne about a $150 million deal that will net Wayne (a.k.a. Doug) $13 million. Will this be enough to stay put as the Riches?
  • Dahlia, Nina and the kids have one problem after another on their journey to Mexico. Their troubles will eventually land them in a hostage situation. Will Wayne save them before it's too late?
  • Hugh's life has taken a turn for the worse when his wife leaves him. In order to save that big deal, Wayne will need to get Hugh to stop drinking long enough to conduct business -- and that won't be an easy task.
  • Cael gets expelled from school and then decides to leave the family.
  • Dahlia attends an AA meeting (while Nina is scoring drugs), but this winds up prompting her to make a profound change in her life. This will set the stage for the remainder of the season.
