Installation Instructions for 2 Inch Lift Blocks on a 1992 Jeep Cherokee
- 1). Loosen the rear lug nuts with a lug wrench then position a jack under the rear of the Jeep. Lift the Jeep until the tires are several inches off the ground then place a set of jack stands under the frame of the Jeep and lower the jack, allowing the Jeep to rest on the stands and the suspension to hang.
- 2). Remove the lug nuts completely then slide the tires and wheels off the wheel studs.
- 3). Locate the two U-bolts on the axle that secure the axle housing to the leaf springs. Remove the four nuts from the U-bolts with a deep socket and breaker bar while supporting that side of the axle with the jack. Do not lift the axle, just support it. Slide the U-bolt plates off the U-bolts and remove the U-bolts from around the axle housing.
- 4). Lower the jack, allowing the axle housing to drop away from the spring. Insert the 2-inch lift block between the spring and the axle, aligning the pin on the bottom of the block with the hole in the spring mounting plate.
- 5). Install a new set of U-bolts around the axle then slide the top plate over the new U-bolts. Install the nuts and washers that came with the U-bolts and tighten the nuts just enough to hold the spring, block and axle together.
- 6). Move to the opposite side of the Jeep and repeat the process to install the second block and new U-bolts. Torque the U-bolts to 30 ft.-lbs. using a crisscross pattern.
- 7). Remount the tires and wheels then thread the lug nuts onto the wheel studs. Tighten them until snug with the lug wrench.
- 8). Raise the rear of the Jeep off the jack stands with the jack, remove the stands from under the truck then lower the jack, setting the Jeep on the ground. Tighten the lug nuts completely with the lug wrench.
