How to Troubleshoot a Kohler Bath Faucet

13
    • 1). Turn off the water to the faucet.

    • 2). Take out the screw in back of the faucet handle with an Allen wrench, and pull the handle off. Adjust the temperature ring (the small dial on the cartridge stem) by turning it by hand to the left or right to increase or decrease the maximum water temperature. Replace the handle and tighten the screw, then turn on the water and test the faucet.

    • 3). Remove the handle again and tighten the mounting nut under the temperature control ring. Turn it right to tighten it, and seat the faucet cartridge with a wrench. Replace the handle and turn on the water to test the faucet. If the leak remains, continue to troubleshoot the Kohler faucet.

    • 4). Remove the handle again. Loosen the mounting nut and bonnet, and remove them. Slide out the cartridge and replace it with a new cartridge from your replacement kit. Replace and tighten the mounting nut and bonnet. Slide the handle back on and tighten the screw with the Allen wrench.

    • 5). Turn on the water and test the faucet by operating the handle. If the leak remains, remove the handle, the bonnet and the mounting nut. Then take off the spout and replace the O-ring under it. Reassemble the faucet.
