Here's a job that some people might find appealing - getting paid to cruise Bangkok's best bars and clubs. No he's not a critic he's a tour guide! Yes in addition to the plethora of day tours available in Thailand's Capital there is now a night life tour based on the successful movie Hangover2 which was shot on location in Bangkok. I met up with Toby (the guide) and asked him about this unusual tour.

"Some guys might say you have one of the best jobs in the world would you agree?

Toby, "definitely! I mean what would most single guys give to get paid to cruise the best bars and clubs of Bangkok? I have to say I love the job"

Interviewer, "OK so whose idea was it to do this tour and is it very popular, presumably you are asking people to pay money for something they could do quite easily themselves?

Toby, " The tour is organized by the Thailand Tours Center, which has been run by a Kiwi guy called Bruce for many years. He does several tours every day to the Tiger Temple and Floating Market as well as other attractions around Bangkok. He saw the movie Hangover2 and decided it would make a great tour so he contacted me (because he knows I write for a nightlife blog) and asked if I wanted to get involved"

Interviewer, " Ok but surely guys could just cruise the nightlife on their own, why take a tour?"

Toby, " That's a good question and obviously you are right for people who are familiar with Bangkok or who live here. We have found we get a lot of interest from Woman both straight and Gay who are curious about Bangkok's nightlife and want to experience it for themselves in a safe way. The tour is based on the Movie Hangover2 so we go to gogo bars featured in the film and then move on to some more raunchy places that have live erotic shows, but we can adjust the tour to suit customers needs so there is a lot of flexibility in this tour.

Interviewer, " wow that's amazing so a lot of your customers are women? I would have though single guys on a stag night since that seemed to be the theme of the movie.

Toby, "Ok we do get groups of guys as well because for a large group it works out a good deal. They get a luxury van and driver for the evening plus some free drinks and a guide to make sure they only go to good places and don't get ripped off. The tour also seems popular with couples.

Interviewer, " So how long has the tour been going and is it very popular. Does is go all night?

Toby, " The tour only started a few months ago (after the movie came out) and has proved to be more popular than we expected Bruce is taking bookings for next year. The tour stats at around 7pm and goes on as long as the customers want. By midnight most people have had enough but we do get some people who want to carry on all night.

Interviewer, " What about the Lady Boys? They are in the movie how do you incorporate that into the tour.

Toby, " Yes we do visit the Lady Boy bars. The Tilac Bar which is featured in the film is not a lady boy bar and this confuses some people because in the movie it appears to have lady boys in that bar. For the Lady boy bars we go to an area of Bangkok which is famous for that"

Interviewer, "Wow that's amazing,

Interviewer, " Ok so can I get a free tour?

Toby Laughs and tells me I will have to talk to Bruce.

The Bangkok Hanover tours runs 4 days a week and visits the gogo bars of Bangkok including the bars featured in the movie Hangover2. It is a nightlife tour and is only available to people over the age of 20 (legal drinking age in Thailand) It is run and organized by the Thailand Tours Center.
