Music is one area where the ensemble is quite common. Groups of musicians perform together in jazz, chamber orchestras, rock bands, Latin bands and in other world and cultural musical expressions. Other musical ensembles include combos, big bands, percussion groups and those based on a particular instrument. From Taiko and Native American drummers to classical and church choirs, ensembles can be found in all genres of music in countries worldwide. - Actors for TV programs are part of an ensembleJamie McCarthy/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images
Motion picture and television actors gather for enacting TV sitcoms and dramas or to bring a screenplay to life. Awards programs often acknowledge ensembles, too. Ensembles can also include producers, directors and actors, or just one area such as a special effects or lighting team. On stage, theatre actors, directors and producers form an ensemble from the time of rehearsals until the theatre goes dark when a play closes. - Fashion ensembles are planned for major fashion shows.Stefan Gosatti/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images
In the fashion world, ensembles can be matching shoes and handbags or hats designed for a specific ball gown. Jewelry and other accessories combine to create dramatic or subtle ensembles for a model during a photography shoot or for an individual who selects items for his wardrobe. The overall effect of the combination of garments and accessories is determined by the various pieces of the ensemble. - Home entertainment systems are a type of ensemble.Jupiterimages/Comstock/Getty Images
Numerous other people and items can be joined into ensembles for a variety of purposes. Your own basic home entertainment center is an ensemble that probably includes a television, CD and DVD player, speakers, and wiring. You may even have a room in the basement level of your home with rows of comfortable seats to view a large home theater screen. Other types of ensemble include educators working on a project, volunteers helping at a hospital, activists helping to save wildlife, equipment such as electronics or specific things needed for business, firefighting, the military, scientific studies and so forth. All these ensembles serve as parts of a whole with a common goal or purpose.
