Ideas for Luau Centerpieces
- For a fun and festive look, purchase helium-filled balloons shaped like palm trees, flip-flops, dolphins, tropical fish, toucans or hibiscus from a store like Party City. Use colorful ribbons to tie them to a fresh pineapple placed in the center of each table. The height of the balloons can vary depending on whether you are looking to create centerpieces right at the table or would like them to float a bit into the air.
- For a simple centerpiece that can be eaten after the party has ended, purchase coconuts, bananas, pineapples, papayas and mangoes. Arrange the fruit in the center of each table by propping them up against each other. For some added fun, prop a straw hat up against one side of the fruit and place a hula dancer statue next to it.
- To bring a touch of the ocean to the tables, place small fish bowls or globe-shaped bowls filled with water and tropical fish bath toys. Add a couple drops of blue food coloring to add a light tint to the water. Glitter can also be mixed into the water to add a touch of sparkle. Scatter various size seashells down the length of the table and around the bowls.
- Using fresh flowers to decorate your tables is always a nice option. Create centerpieces with tropical flowers like bird of paradise, red anthurium, orchids, hibiscus and gardenias. Float the flowers in glass bowls of water or place in bamboo vases.
- In Hawaii, tikis are held in high regard and worshiped by locals, so why not place them in the center of each table at your luau. Purchase tiki candles or statues at party supply stores and place colorful floral leis around them.
- Sand and starfish will bring a touch of the beach to your table. To create the centerpiece, fill tall, rectangular glass vases with approximately 2 inches of sand. Then press in a colorful pillar candle and small starfish, which can lean against each side of the candle.
