Matchless Tiny Fisher Price Doll Pieces: Arrangement Suggestions
Designing by Mood
Great designers know that in order to have a good layout and design you need to strive for the appropriate mood. A mood is the purpose of the room, the reason that it exists. An example is that you would have a kitchen to eat, have conversation, relax, cook etc. Another example would be a bedroom, which is more personal, intimate, and is directly affected by the personality of the resident. Great dollhouses are no different. To help you get in the mood setting, picture the room and the feelings that emanate from that room, then design colors, furniture, and styles to match that setting. The more you can portray the appropriate move, the more you will convince your friends and family your great skills as a miniaturist.
An Addition that can make a Big Difference
If you are a true crafter you are constantly tweaking your creations. There are some great things that you can add to your house, and I just simply came across one that helped out a lot. I simply created a floor board to use for the trim around the floor of the dollhouse. Floor Trim is not a new creation, but what I found is instead of buying it, to use a very thin balsa wood found in most craft stores. I applied this balsa wood to the floor of each of my walls to form a great outline along the bottom. What I found is that they covered up the tiny bumps between the walls and the flooring. The wallpaper walls were also trimmed and I was really happy to see that it prevented fraying due to covering the edges. This discovery truly was a small one, but I believe that it really added to my dollhouse.
Creating Colors that Work in your Environment
Ever since we picked up our first box of crayons we have desired to match, mix, and create It is no different when you have fabric, furniture, and room color choices. The desire to coordinate is known throughout any art or design school and is taught at a basic level using a color wheel. When you are looking at a color wheel, it looks almost like someone took a rainbow and connected the arch into a circle. Opposing colors are the most different and offer attractiveness to the eye called contrast, colors touching each other are the most similar and can be accent colors that heighten, but dont distract from the feel. As a first step into the designing realm for yourself, I recommend that you defiantly read up on the color coordination material that is on the internet or any good book, as it will really help your style.
Look Down: The Floor in your Kit
There is one design item that is looked over more than anything else is flooring. Undoubtedly Flooring is the foundation of your dollhouse, and as such is the foundation for all of your design choices. Just as with new flooring in any house, new flooring in a dollhouse will increase the value and appeal. There are several types of flooring that you might want to consider: Carpet, linoleum, tile, stone, and/or hard wood. The most popular choice is carpet, probably because we enjoy carpet so much in our houses. Linoleum and tile are basically the same for your kit in application, they are simply different designs. Stone and hard wood choices are really available for those die hard hobbyist that want a very realistic house, but hey when you want quality there is no better option.
