California Yellowtail Charter Trips

      Enjoy booking a charter to go after the delicious Yellowtail. Charter trips range from the luxurious, to a simple day trip open to the public. Over 39 charters fish for Yellowtail out of Southern California harbors. From the most southern, these ports include San Diego, Oceanside, Newport, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Marina Del Rey, Redondo Beach, Malibu, Oxnard and Santa Barbara. Open fishing trips and private charters are available for most charter services.

    Orange County Charters

      Newport Landing Sportfishing Charters charters fishing trips or rents boats for private parties. Offering twilight, overnight, 1/2-day and full-day charters, Newport Landing Sportfishing's charters offer hot and cold food and beverages, as they fish off the coast of Laguna Beach, Catalina Island, San Clemente Island and other offshore and local sites. Newport Landing Sportfishing also offers overnight and multi-day trips aimed particularly to go after large game fish, including Yellowtail. The captain's favorite place to fish is off San Clemente Island, though they will chase the fish offshore if the opportunity arises. Overnight trips include accommodations on their two boats, the Amigo and the Aggressor. The amenities include bunks, bedding, comfortable indoor seating, a full kitchen and snack bar.

      Spectra Sportfishing, an Orange County-based charter business that offers Yellowtail fishing off the coast around Catalina Island, San Clemente Island and other local waters. Owner and skipper Bill Keleman posts up-to-date fishing information on his website. Spectra Sportfishing also offers Open Party charters for small groups of two, three, or four anglers who would like to join others to fill a six-person charter.

      Spirit Sport Fishing offers overnight and multi-day trips to Santa Catalina Island and San Clemente Island. The charter service provide fishing gear, top-quality rods, reels, lines, tackle and bait. They equip their boats with a fish finder, GPS and radar for your safety. You can purchase the required fishing license on board. Accommodations are provided on the boat, though you are responsible for bringing your own food, snacks and beverages. A microwave, freezer and refrigerator are available. Your catch is cleaned, filleted and packaged for you to take home.

    San Diego Charters

      Sportfish San Diego fish for Yellowtail in the waters off Baja as well as in local waters off San Diego and points north. San Diego Sportfishing offers a number of options to fish for Yellowtail. Everything from a half-day trip off the coast of San Diego to long-range fishing in Mexican waters. Six-hour fishing trips head to Point Loma to fish for Yellowtail in the kelp beds. Nine- to 10-hour trips off the coasts of Coronado Islands, Baja and the outerbanks in Mexican waters are also available. Full-day and 1 1/2-day overnight trips to the Coronado Islands run year round. For an additional feel, Sportfish San Diego offers "limited load" trips during peak season to limit the number of anglers aboard. In the summer and fall, multi-day trips up to five days are available. These trips fish in the Northern Baja waters where yellowtail are plentiful. Longer trips, ranging from two to 21 days are run deep into Mexican waters.

    Marina Del Rey

      Marina Del Rey Sportfishing has four boats including two that go out for Yellowtail, the New Del Mar and the Tortuga. The New Del Mar goes out year round and carries about 90 passengers. The Tortuga carries 20 passengers and is good for smaller parties.

    Redondo Beach

      Redondo Beach Sportfishing fishes daily off Santa Catalina Island, Santa Monica Bay, Rocky Point and the Horseshoe Kelp beds. Offering half-day, whole-day, and overnight fishing trips, Redondo has a full service galley, fish finding electronics, a helpful and experienced crew, and a good chance to hook a yellowtail. Redondo Beach Sportfishing boats, the Betty G and the Highliner, offer fishing year-round for 10 anglers each trip.

    Long Beach and Los Angeles Charters

      Spirit Sportfishing, out of Berth 55 in Long Beach, sails out of L.A. harbor. Fishing spots include Rocky Point, Volcanic Reef, the Channel Islands, the Southwest Bank and Point San Vincente. They offer 1/2-day, 3/4-day, and whole-day fishing for Yellowtail.

      The Chubasco III, is berthed at Pier 55 Landing in Long Beach.
