Note: We previously reported that it's not okay to cook in Ziploc® bags, but Ziploc® launched the first food preparation product: the Ziploc® Brand Zip 'n Steam™ Microwave Steam Cooking Bags. These bags feature an innovative design with patented steam vents that allow the bag to maintain optimal steaming pressure so food cooks at a higher temperature and retains more moisture.
If you use another brand of plastic bags, make sure you buy a product that is rated for high temperatures or microwaves.
Cooking in regular plastic bags is not safe.
