Hunting Licenses and Permits

• To hunt for rabbits in Amarillo, all individuals must obtain a hunting license, which permits year-round rabbit hunting. Prices are based on the hunter's state residency, and discounts are offered for military, senior and youth hunters. To hunt for rabbit on public property in the city of Amarillo, the Annual Public Hunting Permit is $48 as of July 2010. • According to the National Parks Service website, the closest rabbit-hunting location to Amarillo is Lake Meredith National Recreation Area. Twenty minutes north of Amarillo in the city of Fitch, Lake Meredith offers hunting opportunities in the backcountry areas of the lake.
