When Time Runs Out

4
Recently Travis and I enjoyed a five-day cruise to the Bahamas.
While on vacation, Travis discovered that a well-known IndyCar driver, Dan Wheldon died in a horrific car crash.
In his death, survived are his lovely wife and two beautiful children.
As I continued to watch the news coverage, it became unsettling trying to imagine how devastating it would be to lose a spouse in a matter of seconds; how devastating it is for his wife to face the fact that her life must go on without the love of her life.
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow.
What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
James 4:14 NIV As I began to read through the news coverage online, I began to read the description of one the couple's final moments together, just hours before the fatal crash.
In those moments, Dan and his wife probably weren't thinking that Dan's time on earth was coming to an end soon.
However, after looking at some of the pictures of those last moments, I conclude that they actually seized those moments by creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Take a moment and ask yourself if you are truly cherishing the moments that you have left with your loved ones (especially your spouse).
If you are not taking advantage of the time that you have with your spouse then no longer put off today for tomorrow; for tomorrow will come but you or your spouse may not get to experience it.
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.
Proverbs 27:1 NIV Once married couples realize that "time" is more precious and valuable than money, fame or even being right all the time, many arguments will cease to exist.
Additionally, as Travis and I grow wiser, we realize that compromising and being selfless is invaluable and is needed to have a fulfilled married life.
Life really IS too short not to create beautiful moments that will last and enjoy the time that you have left.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
Philippians 2:3 NIV Finally, if you decide to allow yourself to become angry -for it is a choice, no one can make you get angry- don't permit yourself to stay angry for long.
You don't want the last memory with your spouse to be one filled with bitterness, strife and (or) regret.
We must learn to forgive quickly and move on.
And "don't sin by letting anger control you.
" Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry..
..
Ephesians 4:26 NLT In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.
Selah Psalm 4:4 Can you name a time that you and your spouse created a memory that you'll never forget? Share with us and become a part of a vision that is strengthening marriages around the world; one relationship at a time.
