Proton Accelerator Will Reveal Secrets of the Universe

5
Research carried out by the European laboratory CERN particle accelerator on Protons might reveal some clues about the formation of the universe, according to the scientists involved in the study.

A hundred physicists discussed these days in the Spanish city of Santiago (northwest), the progress of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) as part of the international conference "Low-x 2011 Meeting2011."

The LHC, which produces hundreds of millions of frontal collisions of particles at near light speed to test your reaction, could increase in coming months and light energy to finally reach the full capacity of the experiment and so data can be examined after. Experts consulted by Efe said the LHC, once it reaches full capacity in the clash between protons; give results on the existence of the Higgs particle (called "Higgs boson") in the standard model of particle physics and the search for extra particle symmetry.

Dr. Alan Martin, Durkam University, UK, said the LHC "is working exceptionally well", even "better than expected" for an experiment of this kind, but stressed that scientists are trying to see how to order information to generate these massive explosions. "The simplest thing we can find is the Higgs boson, but unless we find will be even more interesting because then we might discover something new," he told Efe.

Matin said that "nothing is what theorists are looking for, which is the extra super symmetric particle or particle" considered as "the ultimate symmetry of nature", and harder to find.

This is the "super symmetry", which means that "every known particle is associated with another particle" twin but heavier and different mass, he said.

Martin predicted that once the increased energy in the LHC, detached in collisions of protons and light should begin to perceive these discoveries. He predicted that possibly this summer, "if in some region of the mass, but if you're in another lighter, which until now had been excluded, may be more difficult to measure."

The scientist said that the early universe was formed from particles and the Big Bang "was a democratic state in which the particles are intermingled, so that shows nature's fundamental issues connected to development of the universe."

Dr. Peter Norman, State University of Moscow, told Efe that scientists are close to finding the Higgs boson, and predicted that "will have to wait, at most one year." "If there will be discovered in the coming months, perhaps at most a year," he said.
