Genesis Chapter Seven: Noah and the Ark
God told Noah that it was time to go into the Ark and with one finally look at the way that life was when they entered the Ark. Noah and his family probably said a silently good-by and walked into the Ark. God shut them in and the rains started to fall. People probably panic as the water came up to their ankles and they probably were a mad rush to get to higher ground when the water was as high as their knees. No one probably stood there waiting to drown, but they gave one last final fight by trying to climb up on the Ark, to scratch their way into the boat, and to try to get to higher ground which only succeed in them watching the water inch toward them. They gave one final fight to save themselves. I wonder how many of those people asked God to save them.
God was tired of the people and their evil ways. He totally wiped out the whole mankind except Noah and his family. He sent rain to wash away the people and their evil ways. He sent the rain to wash in a new way of life, to wash the Earth clean, and to wash everything and everyone away. He didn't want Noah and his family to come out of the Ark to a bunch of dead bodies of human beings and animals. God wanted to start over and He wanted to wipe the slate clean. God wanted to wash away the sins of the people and bring in his fresh new start for the people in the ark. He wanted them to have a new start at the life that He wanted to give them.
I have mediate on how those people felt and I have always wondered if anyone said €I am sorry, God.€ Or were they more worried about keeping themselves alive, then to say how sorry they were and how this was their fault since they didn't listen to God in the first place.
God wants to be first in our lives. He wants us to love Him with our whole heart and not to love someone else more. God wants us to follow in His footsteps toward eternal life with Him. God will always be there for us and He will never leave us or forsake us.
Noah had found favor in God's eyes and that is why God saved Him. He followed whatever God said. It would have been easier to say €Sorry, God other people will think I am crazy if I follow this command and build an ark.€ No, Noah simply went about his business and built an Ark. Never questioned God about it and never worried what other people would think of the situation. He never worried what people were whispering behind his back about his family building the Ark. When asked about it, he simply said €God told me to build this Ark.€
