About the Biggest Mall in Japan
- The mall is around 220,000 square feet in size and features two sections with three floors each. The space is spread among large retail chains and many smaller specialty shops. The mall, which cost about $863 million to build, is in Koshigaya, Saitama Prefecture.
- The mall was created as two different sections, the "Kaze" (wind) and the "Mori (forest)." The "Kaze" portion was designed more for adult shoppers, while the "Mori" part is suited for all ages. These separate sections make it easier for shoppers to target what they want and not spend too much time searching for it.
- Some of the largest stores in the mall are Tsutaya, Victoria Sports, Zara, Yousland, and Jusco. There are also more than 560 smaller shops, including Adidas and Nike. The mall also features a large beauty area and a movie theater.
- AEON LakeTown Mall was built using eco-friendly methods, including the use of recycled materials for construction, the installation of solar panels and a large opening to provide natural lighting. The mall also hosts several environmental sessions and celebrations to increase awareness.
- AEON LakeTown mall may be the biggest in Japan, but it falls short of several malls in the United States. The largest by square feet in the U.S. is the King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania, and No. 2 is the Mall of America in Minnesota. Both of these malls feature more than 250,000 square feet of space.
