How to Deposit Checks Made Payable to a Business in a Personal Account
- 1). Contact your bank and ask if it will accept a third-party check for deposit. Explain why you wish to deposit the third-party check and ask what the requirements are for completing the transaction. The more well-known you are at your bank, the more likely the bank is to make the transaction for you, assuming the bank's internal regulations do not forbid the deposit of third-party checks.
- 2). Obtain a signature on the back of the check from an authorized representative of the business to which the check is made payable. The signature should include a line that states "Pay to the order of (your name)." Get a business card with the full name, title and phone number of the person signing the check so that the bank can contact the check signer for verification if needed.
- 3). Sign the back of the check below the signature of the authorized representative of the business.
- 4). Complete a deposit slip and remit the deposit slip and check to an employee at your bank.
