Explain why you wish to deposit the third-party check and ask what the requirements are for completing the transaction. The more well-known you are at your bank, the more likely the bank is to make the transaction for you, assuming the bank's internal regulations do not forbid the deposit of third-party checks.

The signature should include a line that states "Pay to the order of (your name)." Get a business card with the full name, title and phone number of the person signing the check so that the bank can contact the check signer for verification if needed.
