How to Motion Freeze Photography

8
    • 1). Obtain the right camera. For great photography, you will need a good digital single lens (DSL) reflex camera because it is more flexible and easily manipulated, especially when capturing objects in motion. There are a few critical factors to consider when choosing your digital camera, such as the resolution, lens quality, lens aperture and the lens-zoom range. Pay particular attention to the lens aperture, which describes how far the lens can open. Cameras with a good aperture gather more light and therefore require less light to take a photo.

    • 2). Determine the object's shutter speed. Shutter speed is a setting found in cameras that controls the amount of time the shutter is open during photo taking to allow light to the camera sensor. The faster the shutter, the less light that goes to the sensor and the more defined the subject will be, ensuring it creates a great image. Determine the shutter speed by considering the speed of the object and the distance between the camera and the object. To make your photograph more precise, determine the level of motion you want to produce in the picture depending on the message you want to pass across.

    • 3). Capture motion in the photograph by blurring your image. Rely on your shutter speed to create an indulgent motion picture. Determine if you want to blur the object or the background. Ensure that your camera is on manual mode, and apply a low shutter speed to get a blurred photo of a moving object. Hold your camera in steady position to achieve a blurred image, and similarly, move your camera to blur the background.

    • 4). Set your camera at the highest possible shutter speed to allow the came to let in light within a fraction of a second. This will ensure that you accurately freeze the photo’s motion.
