Tips on Nikon Lens Pen Cleaning

Clean your lenses with the inexpensive Nikon Lens Pen Cleaning System for consistently crisp images without using fussy solutions or cloths, which often damage these expensive items of camera gear. Lens pens are double-ended and easy-to-use compact cleaning tools which fit in (or clip onto) a pocket for quick touch-ups or complete cleaning sessions and are safe for use on all lenses. - Dust is the worst culprit to cause dirty lenses and poor shooting results, often visible only when you examine your photographs in detail. To avoid this disappointment, brush your whole lens gently, flicking off the dust with the retractable brush at one end of your Nikon Lens Pen Cleaner. To extend this brush, push the slider (the same kind of setup as a pencil eraser), located on the pen's body, to the fully open position. Always retract the brush immediately after use to avoid air-borne dust particles settling on it. Brushing removes the tiny grains which scratch lenses when they become trapped under tools such as cleaning cloths. This is the major disadvantage of all cloth or paper-based lens cleaning systems.
- After removing the dust from your lens, examine it carefully for smears and smudges caused by accidental contact with fingers and other objects during shooting. Complete your cleaning session using the other end of your pen, which has a soft rubber cleaning pad tipped with special fabric and impregnated with a cleaning mixture. This mixture is not a liquid, so there are no spills or leaks; it's a patented formula containing carbon, which absorbs the oil deposited by fingerprints. After taking off and safely storing the cap, which protects the cleaning pad, gently move the cleaning pad over the lens surface in circular motions to remove dirt. For stubborn stains, breathe gently on the lens and repeat the cleaning process. Always replace the cap as soon as you are finished using the cleaning pad.
- After cleaning your lens and replacing the cap, rotate it in place to recharge the cleaning pad with fresh cleaning mixture. Just as you never intentionally touch the glass of your lenses with a finger, refrain from touching either end of your Lens Pen, which reduces efficiency by depositing unseen dirt from your skin and shortens the Pen's life. For the best cleaning results, replace your pen after approximately 500 cleaning sessions.
